I’m going to Graceland, Graceland, in Memphis Tennessee

Photographer Chris Glass posted a wonderful photo essay of his trip to Graceland in Memphis in July 2010.

I made a similar pilgrimage during my first trip around the USA back in 1997. Chris and I have taken some photos of the same locations from similar angles around the site. It’s kinda interesting to compare them (not the quality — he’s a much better photographer and I was using a crappy old Konica 35mm). Nothing much has changed.

It looks much smaller than I imagined. Was that your impression James?

Yeah I guess. By Sydney Mc mansion standards it’s a modest if revoltingly garish home. By Memphis standards it’s quite lavish.

Wow! I love seeing your perspective of the same spots and the differences of time. Very cool!
